During bathtime tonight, I caught Cohen checking out his reflection in the faucet. It was the funniest thing...since the reflection makes your image distorted, he was opening and closing his mouth. What a cutie!!!

Cohen is such a good BIG brother. He helps me by making sure Taysom (who is not much for paci's) always has one shoved in his mouth. He loves to give the baby kisses and hugs...mostly I think he likes the feel of Taysoms baby hair on his face. And he's always giving Taysom big pushes in his swing, Taysom is going to love roller coasters when he gets older thanks to his big brother. I LOVE MY BOYS!!!

This year we decided to go from our "pretty" tree to a "fun" tree. Sparkling colored lights and Winnie-the-Pooh adorn our evergreen. Cohen also discovered what candy canes were, as they were part of the decorations...therefore, the bottom half of the tree is missing its canes. Kids truly make Christmas wonderful! I love my Cohenator!

Summing Up 2008

I recall the song, "Count Your Blessings"-name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done. This year has been very much like last year in that we have had so many BLESSINGS!
1-We bought our house in the spring, thanks to my wonderful grandparents who allowed us to purchase it from them. It is so wonderful to own my own home and know that I'm so close to family.
2-We took a vacation to Hawaii, visiting new islands and experiencing it all with a 1 year old, who actually loved being there with mom and dad together. We really had such a great time and love being able to travel once in a while.
3-Next we found out we were expecting again, not by accident mind you, no this baby was planned and hoped for. And if you have read previous blogs about this pregnancy, we are having another BOY due January 25!!! Oh Cohen will have so much fun with a little brother! We have already decided on a name: Taysom Jethro-Jethro after my grandfather (boy was he excited about that)!
4-We sent another brother out to do the Lords work this summer. We are so proud of Steven and pray that he continues to bless the lives of those he teaches. WE LOVE YOU STEVEN!
As for individual blessings,
John loves working for the post office. He was made an employee this year, rather than being a temp...his job provides us with insurance and many overtime hours which bless us financially. He and I are still serving a calling on the activities committee and have enjoyed planning things for our ward.
Mandie is still working for Novell. After 8 1/2 years there I hope to make a career change, with the coming of Taysom, to be full time mom. This year has been hard with John and my work schedule, we are on opposite schedules and rarely see each other. SO things like vacations to Hawaii and getting really sick with colds gives us a chance to be together. ;) I'm also very VERY very ready to have this baby. I wish the stories of the stork were true, but alas, they are not. Guess I should be grateful I'm not an elephant.
Cohen has grown so much this past year. Its very amazing to me how time flies and how fast they learn. He signs a few words because he still refuses to talk, however he has started saying mama, dadda, and coo coo (choo choo train). He knows all his body parts, the funniest is when you ask him where his bum is, he slaps his butt cheek. He refuses to go to nursery and cries so much that the leaders have to bring him to us halfway through class. He really is my love bug and I can't imagine my life without him.
I thank my Heavenly Father for all that he does for us and how he blesses us so much. I an so grateful for family and friends, most especially during this time of the year, when there is much to be grateful for. Merry Christmas to all of you and I hope your year has been wonderful too!

Yep thats right, the Larsen Legacy will continue with another boy. I am pretty much not counting on having a little girl, seeings how John has 6 brothers and I have 3. But thats okay...there are pluses of having another boy: Cohen is going to have so much fun with a little brother to play with, he doesn't know it yet, but what a lucky kid. We don't have to buy new clothes, since baby #2 will be born during the same season that Cohen was. And not that I'm bias, but honestly, John and I make the cutest baby boys ever, again, another plus. The only down side is we can't think of a name. If you have suggestions of cute, uncommon, unpopular, original names, we are willing to hear them.

This past weekend we went to the annual Heber Demolition Derby. Ceci was my date since John couldn't get off work. We had so much fun in the heat..then wind..then rain, haha only in Utah. This past weekend we went boating at Yuba Lake. Cohen LOVED his life jacket and cried when I took it off once we were back on the trailer. I don't know why he loved it...look how smooshed his face is!!! What a cute kid!
We even got my mom to ski this year...actually John wouldn't let her come back in the boat when she jumped in to cool off...so she really had no other choice but to ski. Secretly I think she enjoyed it!!!
Traci learned to wake bored...I wasn't quick enough with the camera...but she did an awesome job and surprised both herself and all of us when she got up the very first try!

High Gas Prices=No Lake Powell Trips

I really hate the gas prices..It really stinks that it has to be so high, especially since Lake Powell is really full this year. As of May 29, prices for gas are as high as $5.55 and rising! I just can't believe it. SO instead of going to this beautiful paradise, we are relocating to another paradise for summer vacation, St. George. Its too bad we have to do this..but there is no way to afford the price of boating fun. STINGY GOVERNMENT AND OIL COMPANIES!!!!! Here is a picture of John and my brothers 2 summers ago skiing and wake boarding all at once. I miss LAKE POWELL!!!

Waimea Canyon, the "Grand Canyon" of Kaua'i is the largest canyon in the Pacific and truly an amazing sight. The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit. The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries. While we were there, the clouds were so thick we had to wait for them to clear, but once they had we were able to observe this beautiful natural wonder.

Pearl Harbor

Today we went to Pearl Harbor. It was also Johns birthday and flying day to Kauai. John tried to get photos of the oil that is still coming up from the Arizona...but I don't think you can see it in the pictures very well. Its a sad memorial...but very interesting to see.

The Laie Temple was so beautiful..and the visitors center was very neat. Apparently they get a lot of tourists there because of the P.C.C.

John was trying to take pictures of dolphins flipping in the ocean...but the camera wasn't fast enough...we will post a film to watch.

The P.C.C. I liked this place...it was very fun...a long day, but I wouldn't spend more than one day there. DO you see the man in the tree...very impressive. I didn't take many pictures of me here...I did my hair straight that day...bad idea with naturally curly hair and a super humid climate. I looked like a frizz ball.

Tomorrow, we are headed for Hawaii, and are so excited we can hardly stand it!!! We will be celebrating Johns 24th (May 8) birthday while we are there so I decided to copy Sarah's idea and write 24 reasons why I love John.
1. He's very SEXY (yes I said sexy), I could say more along those lines but I might embarrass him, myself, or you readers so I wont go there..but I'm sure you know what I'm thinking!!!
2. He's a wonderful husband
3. And an even better daddy
4. He's a hard worker and has taken on a lot of responsibility in the past year.
5. He has a killer smile with beautiful teeth
6. He's affectionate
7. He loves his family

10. He knows me...and for the most part, understands me

21. John is punctual...but since he's married to me...he is fashionably late.

23. He and I share many of the same interestest...we love to put puzzles together, play games, watch the Jazz, etc.

I'm so excited to listen to our new prophet, President Monson, speak this weekend. I love to listen to him talk because he has so many cool stories. Not only that, but he is a great story teller. His voice fluctuates with the story, he accentuates words to bring them to life. I can almost picture him around the campfire telling little children about adventures he's had and seeing each of them hanging on to every word with enthusiasm. I can't wait to feel that way this weekend, to listen with wonder and awe. These men are called of God. They bring messages to us to council us and bring us closer to our Heavenly Father. I'm grateful for our new prophet, President Monson, and his love for this wonderful gospel. I hope you all enjoy this exciting conference weekend as much as I will.

Brainshare Party

So tonight we went to the Novell Brainshare Party at the Delt....ooops the Energy Solutions Arena. We saw Frank Caliendo (way funny guy) and Collective Soul. Great concert, I recognized all but one song. I didn't quite realize how old they actually are. Kind of funny to watch a bunch of old guys with long "california surfer dude" hair, rocking out on stage. It was even funnier to watch a bunch of computer programmers rocking out to Collective Soul. One guy near us was jumping up and down and throwing punches in the air the entire time...I bet he was working muscles he didn't know he had and I wouldn't doubt he'll be sore in the morning. But it made me think about how many concerts I've been to in my lifetime. SO here is my list...I'll try to get Johns on here too.

14. Who cooks dinner? Mostly John. He's a good cook!
15. Who drives? John doesn't like my driving, so he does. Which is fine with me. I hate driving with all those crazies on the road.
16. Who is more stubborn? We are both stubborn, but I get over it more quickly than he does. Love you babe!
17. Who kissed who first? I believe it was John and because his cousin Paul told him it was TIME. (he was very shy)
18. Who asked who out first? We were set up on a blind date by Paul. We went to FAT DUMB AND HAPPIES with Yvonne and Justin and John barely said a word to me the whole time. (reason: see question above) I didn't think I'd ever hear from him again, but he called me the next day and the day after that and the day after that...etc.
19. Who proposed? John and I had tickets to see Joseph and the Amazing Techni-Colored Dream Coat at the Tuachan in St George. So we took a weekend and drove there with his cousins Paul and Sarah to see the play. We spent the day hiking in caves and shopping to pass the time. The play was so fun, but at the end I was so tired, it had been a long day, and I fell asleep in the car. Next thing I know, we are at the St George temple because everyone else wanted to walk around it. So I'm game to the idea and eventually we end up by ourselves in front of the christus statue at the visitors center. He stops and so I stop, and he just keeps talking so I keep talking. And I'm kind of chilly but he keeps standing there so I don't say anything but I can tell he has something on his mind by the way he was stalling! and then it happened...he was so nervous it was cute...he pulled out THE BOX (and my box is so cool..it has a little light in it)! I didn't expect it at all...I mean we had been talking about getting married for a long time...but I just didn't think it was going to be this soon! But it was a perfect night...and a perfect proposal...and the St George Temple is very special to me for that reason.
20. Who has more siblings? haha funny story here...Our first date, I'm trying to get John to talk and so I ask him questions, you know the "GET TO KNOW YOU" questions (almost like this questionare) and my question is..."how many brothers and sisters do you have?" And he says..."I don't know...20 or something." SAY WHAT?!?!?!?! But I guess if you cound up his 6 brothers and 3 half sisters and 1 half brother and all the step-bros and sis' Then he has about that many! I on the other hand have 3 brothers and one step brother.
21. Who wears the pants? ummm we'll say John since its true!

A TRUE LOVE STORY

I publish this post in honor of President Hinckley. I was truly shocked at hearing of his passing, even though he was 97, I wasn't prepared to have him leave us. He was one of my very favorite prophets and I will miss him dearly. There is a quote I want to share, given by him in the 2003 October Relief Society Conference. It touches my heart and makes my eyes tear up at this romantic statment:

"Now to you dear grandmothers, you older widows, and older lonely women. How beautiful you are. I look upon my dear wife, soon to be 92 years of age. Her hair is white; her frame is stooped.
I take one of her hands in mine and look at it. Once it was so beautiful, the flesh firm and clear. Now it is wrinkled and a little bony and not very strong. But it speaks of love and constancy and faith, of hard work through the years. Her memory is not what it once was. She can remember things that happened half a century ago but may not remember what happened half an hour ago. I am like that, too.
But I am so grateful for her. For 66 years we have walked together, hand in hand, with love and encouragement, with appreciation and respect. It cannot be very long before one of us will step through the veil. I hope the other will follow soon. I just would not know how to get along without her, even on the other side, and I would hope that she would not know how to get along without me."

My heart rejoices for I know our prophet has returned home to the arms of his Father in Heaven and his loving sweetheart, Marjorie. I pray we all may live a life of complete happiness and romance such as these two had and will continue to have now that they are reunited. I love this gospel, it has made me extremely happy and has blessed me with a wonderful husband whom I love with all my heart and get to be with for eternity. I love the Savior, and it comforts me to know that he sacraficed his life for us so that we may all return to our Heavenly Father; just as our beloved prophet has done. I say these things in his name, Amen.

COHEN has discovered the EXCITING world of TOILET PAPER. He pulls himself up to the potty, reaches for the hanging paper and PULLS...lets go, reaches up AGAIN and pulls. The FUNNIEST part was when the roll was OUT and nothing more for him to grab, he looked at the FLOOR and then back at me and SMILED.

One Republic

So I planned a surprise date for John and I, and the poop head guessed it before the event began. Grrr I can't keep surprises from him, and its so annoying! But anyways, I took him to the One Republic concert. THEY WERE AWESOME! Great band+Great songs=Great time! And the best part; our friend Katie had tickets and shockingly they were right BEHIND us. How crazy is that?

RESOLUTIONS

So we all have the usual resolutions...DIET, daily scripture reading, more time with family, etc. And those are totally on my list too...but at the top I put A MORE ORGANIZED AND CLEANER HOME. I seriously can't stand how messy and unorganized my house is right now and I intend to get things on the ball. How?? I haven't got that far yet...but I plan to make a "TO DO" list and carry it out to the MAX. I hope you all have a wonderful 2008 with great resolutions and many happy moments. Here is a recap of the wonderful blessings our family experianced in 2007.
March-John and I gained 1 extra bedroom and 1 extra bathroom and a garage when we moved upstairs in our appartment.

Jonny and I have been married for 2 wonderful years. I have never enjoyed a happier time in my life. He is my the love of my life, and I truly love and respect him. This year my dad built Cohen the most darling rocking car I've ever seen. All hand made from wood, this car had headlights with glass, rubber matted flooring and padded seats. My dad is looking to create his own business called Santa's Workshop, and I think he could do very well. If you would buy his toys reply to this post so I can prove to him how popular his business could be. I'll post pictures of other things he's built for Cohen at a later date.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We began Christmas at 5:00 am this morning because Elder Barker was calling at 6:00 am. Notice the football santa brought daddy and Cohen. (daddy was particularly happy about this gift)

Cohen loved his gifts this year...he enjoyed ripping the paper, and each one went right into the mouth for testing. (good thing none of it was made in CHINA)

OUR SEALING DAY

This day was by far the best day of my life. John and I have truly been blessed and are so grateful to finally be sealed together forever and to also have Cohen sealed to us. I love this gospel and know that Heavenly Father wants us to be happy. And I am, at this moment, the most happy I have ever been in my life. I love my husband with all of my heart, and Cohen is our little angel.

EXCITING LARSEN NEWS

Today we got Mandie's sealing cancellation that we have been waiting for. We are so excited to take Cohen to the temple and become an eternal family. We have a true testimony of the love that our Father in Heaven has for each of us. He wants us to be happy and blesses us when we are righteous. We know He hears and answers prayers. We are so grateful for the gospel and for the blessings it brings to our lives. We are ready to be sealed next Saturday, and to be together forever. We love our Heavenly Father, our brother Jesus Christ, and our earthly family and are grateful for the love they give to us.

Cohen's First Hair Cut

So I've been complaining about strangers who compliment my "baby girl" while HE is dressed in blue clothes *rolling my eyes*. So apparently it was time for a hair cut since it was obviously getting TOO long, as you can see! So today John got out the scissors...and boy did he do a good job! My baby lost all his curls *crying right now* but John assures me that they will grow back. Here are the before and after photos...pray with me that the curls return soon.
